Zephyrs

The Zephyr fleet caters to sailors from their teen years right into their 70s.  It is one of the largest adult dinghy fleets in New Zealand.  We have a strong fleet competing in our centreboard club racing, and also attending regional and national regattas.

The Zephyr is a one person sailing dinghy designed in 1956,  by New Zealander Des Townson. It is one of New Zealand's most popular single person dingys.  There have been over 300 wooden boats built and there a number of the recent fibreglass hull versions being sailed nationwide.

Zephyrs are an ideal boat for both casual and competitive sailors.

You can be competitive in a Zephyr at 65-90kg and can enjoy sailing it at anything from 50-120kg!
