Commodore's Comments

Very varied wind conditions for Race 2 of the Burnsco Winter Series last Sunday. All competitors sailed in one Division up to Sto and back.
There was a good breeze to start which died near the entrance then came back with a vengeance with several boats changing headsails. The sail back was a bit of a roller coaster with one or two spectacular wipe-outs.
Time Warp was being more than ably crewed by Mark Thomas and a gang of off-duty Zephyr sailors with Vice Commodore Andy away. They took line and handicap honours with General Jackson 2nd and Frenzy 3rd.
Well done to Dylan McKinlay for being at the Club and picking up the $50 Burnsco voucher.  See Darryl’s keeler report below.

Well done to our TYPBC sailors at the Medemblik Regatta in the Netherlands which I mentioned last week.  Jason Saunders and Gemma Jones ended up 2nd in the Nacra, Max van der Zalm was 4th in the RS:X Boys U19,  and Veerle Ten Have was 3rd in the Girls U19 RS:X fleet.  Great photo of them on Facebook.

Just a note to reminder for centreboard sailors that contrary to what it says on the calendar there is no sailing this Sunday June 3rd at the Club

Pleased to see that WoW have a new Chair, well done to Reina Del la Varis for taking on that important job.

Its Queens Birthday weekend already and it seems we have temperatures to suit.
Good luck to those going to the Ohope Regatta, and enjoy the long weekend.

Good sailing.

Nick Wrinch

Keeler Report

Hi Fellow Sailors, My 1st report as Chairperson, for the TYPBC Keeler Div.

The Keelers 2nd Race of the “Burnsco Marine Winter Series” , got under way with a chilly start, left sitting, just past 17, due to lack of wind, it picked up to Gust in the high 20’s – early 30’s, at the top end of the course.

Due to time, wind and tide, Bruce, (R.O.), shortened the course, and All Keelers came in at a respectful time, all be it freezing.

Bruce had 1 incident on the course, and had Coastguard on standby, if needed, however with the early withdrawal of 1 of the Tornado’s, this crew got into a Club Rib and went to the aid of a fellow Tornado competitor, (who had enough of sailing and thought they could do some under water ploughing with the tip of their Mast, sadly not the case).

The After Race Presentation, went well, with a Good turn out of fellow Crew and with “Burnsco Marine’s” Added Sponsorship of the lucky door draw of a $50.00 Gift Card, was well received by All.
The lucky winner, was Dillion, off “SPANK” Sail # 77000

Just a reminder to the New Keeler Committee, we have Our 1st meeting coming up in 2 weeks time on Tuesday Evening 12th June at 1930hrs

‘Til next week “Fair Winds”

Small Change

A thirsty sailor runs from his boat to the nearest bar and shouts to the bartender, “Give me twenty shots of your best scotch, quick!”

The bartender pours out the shots, and the sailor drinks them as fast as he can.

The bartender is very impressed and exclaims, “Wow. I never saw anybody drink that fast.”

The sailor replies, “Well, you’d drink that fast too, if you had what I have.”

The bartender says, “Oh my God! What is it? What do you have?”

“Fifty cents!” replied the sailor.
