Commodore's Comments

Happy New Year Everyone!!

It only seems like yesterday that I was doing the last Commodores Comments, and here we are again. I hope you have all recovered from your Christmas over indulgences and are ready to get the sailing season underway again. The weather has not been the best for those wanting to go away cruising, however we all know that can change in an instant.

What's Been Happening??

The Club has re-opened and everyone including the Sailing School is back at work. There may be a bit of painting going on in the Clubhouse so check what you touch.

Tanner Cup and Tauranga Cups have just completed at Plimmerton Boating Club.
We had four reps in the Tanner Cup. Results: James Barnett 4th; Lachlan Dillon 5th; Joel Kennedy 8th and Max Scott 11th took part.  Also we had Hamish Elliot, who comes over from Cambridge and sails at the Club, representing Waikato and came 12th.
In the Tauranga Cup the results were James Barnett 4th; Lachlan Dillon 10th; Joel Kennedy 14th; Hamish Elliot 16th; and Max Scott 17th.
Congratulations to all those who took part. Highlight of the regatta (from a TYPBC viewpoint) was race 6 of the Tauranga Cup when Tauranga boats came in 1st, 2nd & 3rd.
Full results can be found at http://www.plimmertonboatingclub.org.nz/

Thanks to..
Adam Yates for the kind donation of a fridge/freezer to the Club for use by the coaches.

Hi Sailors,

Happy new year! We hope you have good holidays.

A very successful P class Nationals, with two sailors in the top 5!
The TYPBC P class team have a very successful Nationals in Wellington last weekend.
Is amazing to see so many Tauranga sailors in the top 10 and also winning many races. A fantastic picture was to see James, Lachlan, and Max finishing 1st, 2nd and 3rd in one of the races. We can say that TYPBC was the top club in the regatta, with two sailors in the Top 5 and four sailors in the top 11.
Final P class Nationals position:
4th James Barnett
5th Lachlan Dillon
8th Joel Kennedy
11th Max Scott
A fantastic sailing course started this week:
We are having a fantastic sailing course on this week. The sailing courses on this week are giving the kids a big amount of experience with challenging 20 knots sailing. Is great to see so many new kids coming to our Learn to sail courses and learning how to sail. It's a fantastic school and club to join. Go the TYPBC facebook and see the big octopus that surprise the kids this week!

We have a big amount of sailors in the Christmas holiday program! On this program, we run courses for all levels and a race training camp that attract many sailors from other clubs. Super to see this program growing year by gear, with 32 sailors on this last edition.

Visit the TYPBC website and find the information for the next school sailing courses running from the 23 to 27 of January.

All the best for the TYPBC sailors racing in the Starling North Island this weekend in Wakatere!

Happy sailing.
