Commodore's Comments
The closing day race for the Keelboats and Multihulls was a pretty wet one. A good fleet turned up for start considering the look of the weather and variable breeze. The decision was made to race up the harbour rather than out Karewa.
Bill Faulkner had No Regrets about turning up for closing day with a win on line, 2nd was Sabian and 3rd LaRochelle. On corrected Rocky was once again in winning form, 2nd was No Regrets and 3rd Fly Away Sam.

The 3.7 Nationals have been held at the BOI Yacht Club attracting 26 boats. We had two sailors competing. Chris Mitchell finished 17th and Silvana Nieto 25th.

This week we have several sailors competing at Naval Point at the Starling National Champs where there are 60 Starling racing it out in the 12 race series. Jason Hewitt has won several races but also had a couple he wasn’t planning on. Still Jason is placed well at 7th overall going into the last day of racing. Niamh Dillon is 24th and Samantha Kennedy is 30th. Good luck for the final races!

We have had problems with people trying to find the TYPBC’s Face Book page. Being called the “Harry Highet“ it isn’t obvious to many people. So to try and rectify the problem we have reactivated our club page, Tauranga Yacht and Power Boat Club. Please use it, like it and spread it to your friends so more people and businesses see us. Soon we will deactivate the old page. It is a great way to advertise what your division is up to.

It is also great to report the club has had a couple of fantastic months with functions. It is great to see so many locals, their families and friends spending time at our awesome club. Thanks go to all our staff for their hard work to make this happen.

Remember the working Bee. 30th April, 9am. Thanks to all those who are planning to come down.

Good sailing
Nigel Rippey
