Commodore's Comments

Tuesday night we had the 95th TYPBC AGM. Thank you to the good number of members who braved the cold to come and support the club.

My first year as Commodore was busy but made easy by all the members we have who get in and help in all divisions and areas of our club.

My report to the members on the past season was also made easier after our club had produced an extremely successful year both financially and in growth and results for the Centreboard division and Sailing School. Thank you to all our staff and members who have done a great job to get the results we are striving for.

We have a few new faces on our committees. The TYPBC Flag Officers and Committee are:
Commodore: Nigel Rippey, Vice Commodore: Nick Wrinch, Rear Commodore; Andy Knowles.
Honorary Solicitor: Doug Lyon.
Clubhouse Captain: Ross Currie. Asst Clubhouse Captain: Bob Smyth.
Keeler Division: TBA. Trailer Yacht Division: Graeme Vincent.
Centreboard Division: Greg Scott. Women on Water: Delwyn Keyworth. Multihull Division: Dennis Webster.
Thank you to all our committee chairs and members.

After 20 years of service to the club as Honorary Solicitor, Mike Batchelor is retiring. We thank Mike for his long and professional service and wish him well for his retirement. Thankfully, Doug Lyon has stepped in to take on the position.

Congratulations to Peter Burling and Ross Currie for a great season of yachting and receiving the Yachts Persons of the Year award at the AGM.

Congratulations also go to Mike Batchelor and Jimmy Gilpin for the very well-deserved Life Memberships they received at the AGM.

Last weekend the Centreboarders had their training cancelled on Saturday due to a very ugly forecast. In the morning it was looking like a bad decision but by early afternoon it was definitely the right one with rain and 30 knots.
On Sunday the race was very cold but good with up to 20 knots at times. Warren managed to get in 3 good races again before the fingers froze. See full results on our website.

This Sunday is the Burnsco Keeler Winter Series 4. Lets hope for a nice day to attract lots of boats.

Good sailing
Nigel Rippey
