Immediate Past Commodore's Comments

Thanks to all those who turned up at the club for the 97th TYPBC AGM on Tuesday.

After enjoyable 2 years as commodore, now Nick Wrinch is ready to take it on and was formally welcomed in at the AGM. Nick has been rear commodore and vice commodore for 2 years. He has also been very good standing in for me from time to time. I thank Nick for all his time and effort to date and wish him well for the new role.

We have a great team running the club this year:
Commodore Nick Wrinch, Vice Commodore Andy Knowles, Rear Commodore TBA.
General Committee Peter Warren and Ian Watson
Keeler chairperson Andy Kennedy
Centre Board chairperson Greg Scott
Trailer Yachts chairperson Graham Vincent
Multihull chairperson Dennis Webster
Wow chairperson Delwyn Keyworth
Club House Captain Ross Currie
Honorary Solicitor Doug Lyon

Thanks to all those putting their hand up to take on these roles and those on committees for the coming season. Also thanks to all those who have helped in any way around the club and on the water last season.

At the AGM I also had the honor of presenting 3 life memberships to very deserving members. Molly Meech, Olympic 49 FX. Sam Meech, Olympic Laser and Gary Smith, (Backbone of the club). Molly and Sam are in Rio but they send a message to the club. See here:

I also had the pleasure of presenting the Yachts Person of the Year to Peter Burling, Rolex Sailor of the year and 3-time YNZ sailor of the year. Peter is in Rio but, Heather Burling, who spoke about Peter’s time sailing at the TYPBC, keenly accepted his award.

We are a very proud and successful club to have 4 sailors competing at the Games in Rio and to have these talented, world beating sailors come through our club as juniors.

This weekend the Keelers hit the water again for the Burnsco Marine Series 5. More wind please!!

Good sailing.

We recently recieved this photo of Mr N Bluck, who was Patron of our club in 1928 and 1929.

This got us thinking about how many other interesting photos you might have that tell the story of the clubs history. If you could please send them into the office that would be great. office@yacht.org.nz
