Commodore's Comments

Well done to all those who competed this winter in the Burnsco Winter Series for the Keelers and Trailer Yachts.
Race 8 was the final race of the series last Sunday with 15 boats starting.
Again it was light but a nice day with an easterly breeze, Whatever had a great race to take line honors but the corrected time results showed No Regrets coming in 1st, Rocky 2nd and Fast lane 3rd.

Overall for the series, Voodoo Lounge were rewarded for some good races over the winter with 1st, Frenzy 2nd and Fast Lane 3rd.
In Division 3, September Blue get the reward for most races over the series for their division but unfortunately racing against themselves most of time. Overall for the series Luxury liner was 1st, September Blue 2nd and Allagria 3rd. Well done to all.

The Rio Olympic test event finished with great results for several of our sailors. Peter Burling and Blair Tuke continued with their outstanding form, winning the 49ers again!
Molly Meech and Alex Maloney were 4th in the 49er FX and Jason Saunders and Gemma Jones finished 5th after a great series. The NZ team overall had good results and are looking in a good position to medal at the Olympics, less than a year away now.

Jimmy Gilpin, the boat, has had some final touches after its refit. Big thank you to Steve Newlove of Rutherford Signs for replacing the Jimmy Gilpin sign writing on the hull and logos on the console. Looking good now!

Good sailing.

MID WINTER TECHNO CLINIC

Eight very keen boardsailors turned up at the weekend to join Natalia Kosinska for her coaching clinic for both Technos and RS:Xs. The parents put on a fabulous BBQ on the Saturday night. I'm sure the boardsailors got a lot out of this clinic and will go a long way to helping some of them prepare better for the upcoming Techno World Champs in Sardinia in October.
