Peter Dallimore Life Member 2017

Peter Dallimore made a life member

A life membership was awarded to Peter Dallimore at the 2017 AGM Tuesday 11th July.
Peter and Barbara came to Tauranga in 1969 joining TYPBC at the original site at the end of Elizabeth Street/ Strand Extension, currently Harbourside Restaurant. Initially Peter sailed in Keelers which was club’s focus back then. Peter took to Flying 15’s where he competed for many years all over the world in NZ Flying 15 teams, he also sailed a Finn. The family bought an Elliot 7 to sail on together, then later bought a Keeler. When TYPBC moved from the end of Elizabeth St to its present site Peter and family took out a Perpetual Membership and became a part of the move and rebuild. Peter was instrumental in introducing the Optimist to Tauranga after seeing that some of the younger sailors were struggling to sail P Class yachts. Peter spent many years on the Trailer Yacht and Keelers committees, also supporting Women on Water (WOW) and the Rotary Regatta. He was Commodore over the 2008 – 2009 season, helped run Auckland to Tauranga Race, Flying 15 nationals and is currently heading the push to develop Sailability in Tauranga.
Congratulations Peter on your well-deserved award.
