Parent Help

Like all youth sports we rely heavily on support from parents or caregivers to assist.

We have found by experience that competent skippers are the products of a skipper/ parent team. Please do not rely on other parents to provide guardianship for your youngster – join us on the beach around the clubhouse – become one of the team – you’ll enjoy it and so will your skipper.

All centreboard duties are undertaken by club members. On a normal club day approximately 15 people are required to run races and the kitchen. The club expects everyone who can, to help out with the duties. A roster is prepared in consultation with the committee and members can expect to be on that roster.

If you are unable to do your allocated duty it is your responsibility to find a replacement and notify Gun Caundle.  This is a safety issue directly affecting the safety of sailors on the water.

We do not roster inexperienced people to be in charge of running patrol boats but we find that people learn fast and enjoy being part of the team.  Where possible, new members are rostered on patrol boats with those more familiar with the procedures.

Please notify the roster person if you can be involved.

We encourage all parents or caregivers to help out with boat patrol, beach patrol, or kitchen duties.
