General Jackson wins 2009-10 Mills Reef WOW Series

Our last race of the season saw everything from vikings to bagpipes on the water - how cool is that?!  Thanks to everyone who got dressed up and made the final WOW night one to remember!

The overall results for the Racing Division were:

1. General Jackson - 14 Points
2. Ballistic - 24 Points
3. Mistress/Sniper/Bee Bad - 26 Points
4. Rigmarole - 27 Points
5. Silas Marner - 36 Points
6. Kaimai Flyer - 40 Points

Women on Water (WOW) began in 2001 with two female members of TYPBC who saw a need to encourage women to try sailing in a fun, safe and non-threatening environment. Since then, Kath Brown and Lesley Grant’s vision, boosted by the assistance of sponsors and a raft of volunteers, has grown rapidly. Taking place every second Thursday evening during the summer, WOW sees women of all ages and skill levels taking to the Tauranga Harbour to e njoy participation in a sport that has put New Zealand on the world stage.

2009-10 Season Calendar

The WOW Committee hopes that you are as excited as we are for our upcoming season. It promises to be another action-packed affair both on and off the water.

Especially exciting this year will be a designated WOW race on Sunday January 17^th in which boats will be going outside the harbour in a race around A Beacon - the first time ladies have raced outside the harbour!
