Education The Tauranga Yacht and Power Boat Club runs an extensive Learn to Sail Programme conducted under the Yachting New Zealand Junior Sailing Scheme for the junior members of the Club. We have experienced instructors and all safety requirements and strictly adhered to. This programme for junior, Optimist and P Class sailors runs from October through to December each year and then a follow-up course runs from January to March.This is designed to enable the children to practice what they have learned prior to Christmas. Topics covered include safety, rigging, capsize practice in the safety of a pool, wind direction, going about and much more. Anyone wishing to learn to sail can become a member of the Club and enrol in the Learn to Sail programme. There is also an Adult Sailing Tuition programme, usually run early in summer.
