Introduction

This section was set up by founders Kath Brown and Lesley Grant to introduce sailing to women. A non-threatening opportunity to try sailing for non-sailing Women. Summer sailing is on alternate Thursday evenings and Winter on Sundays.

We have a lot of fun. This section of the Club also organises other social functions that everyone can attend. The philosophy behind the Women on Water is to get more Women out on the water. For those that wish there is the opportunity to join the Club and continue with competitive sailing.

But we also have those who just wish to cruise and this is catered for by one of our Committee members who organises occasional cruises up the harbour and sometimes a longer overnight. Most of the sailing is done on Keelers with a few Trailer yachts also offering places on a Thursday night or Winter racing.

The Breast Cancer Support Services Regatta is shaping up to be one of the major events of the year.  The Women on Water division play a big role in the promotion and organising support for this regatta.  It is held around October each year and attracts around 170 sailors in about 30 boats.   The theme is always "Think Pink" and everyone fully enters into the spirit of the event, as can be seen by the photos on the right.

Please Support Mills Reef Winery as they are the Major Sponsors for Women on Water
